1. Highlight and summary of the year
Thevinyl is continuing their Sustainability Journey in 2024 and has received its second verification stamp of ISO26000 earlier this year.
During this year, the company has further set the direction for its sustainability work with high ambitions to strengthen its systematic work with quality, the environment and sustainability in general.
During the year 2023, Thevinyl started producing real volumes of circulated PVC and bio PVC and reduced its climate footprint. The company estimates that in 2024 they will replace 20% of all purchased fossil PVC with circulated and bio PVC, in order to significantly reduce the proportion of fossil PVC.
Commitment remains high among management and cooperation with strategically important customers and suppliers has intensified, which means that development is progressing rapidly. Thevinyl’s final certification in ISO9001 and ISO14001 has further strengthened the company’s ability to work systematically with continuous improvements, structure its sustainability work and increase transparency and communication both within the company and to its stakeholders externally.
” By verifying our sustainability efforts, we demonstrate that sustainability is an integral part of our operations”. Tobias Lind CEO Thevinyl
2. The recipe for success
The company was also a finalist in the company of the year award in Ängelholm. What is their recipe for success?
They believe that their success come from an in-depth collaboration in three steps in the value chain with both customers and suppliers. It has been important to hook arms in the industry and work together towards a sustainable transition. Now the rules of the game are changing and there are demands for new agile ways of working and innovative thinking in the plastics industry. But also from the engagement from their fantastic personnel. Without the employees none of this would have been possible.
3. The next steps
What has been a major challenge has been to get hold of sufficient volumes of recycled plastic to the right quality. It is not available in Sweden, so Thevinyl buys from other companies in Europe.
The company’s next step in its sustainability journey is to work with closed loops, to get back end-of-life products, and build recycling processes and capacity in the existing factory. This is something that customers have already started to demand.
