Since Vati of Sweden initiated its internationalization process in the spring of 2023, Barcelona has become a strategic hub. Now, two years later, and with the support of the European Regional Development Fund and the Just Transition Fund, financed by the European Union, Barcelona has become the headquarters of Vati Iberia.
The new company is part of Vati of Sweden, and its incorporation marks a significant milestone, as it is the first step on the path to global expansion. “Barcelona has been a central focus of VATI of Sweden’s internationalization strategy since 2023, and we are now further consolidating our position by establishing the VATI Iberia headquarters here. This strategic move not only marks an important step in our global expansion but also builds on the successes we’ve seen in the city through our IDG Barcelona Business Hub initiative and our fruitful collaboration with Hospital Sant Pau. With Barcelona as our solid base in the Iberian Peninsula, we are ready to continue our journey toward global growth and a more sustainable future,” emphasizes Eva Vati, CEO and founder of Vati of Sweden, founding partner of Vati Iberia.
Last year was a year of growth in Barcelona, where, in collaboration with IKEA, ESADE Business School, Impact Hub Barcelona, and United Partners, we have already consolidated the IDG Barcelona Business Hub. Based on the Inner Development Goals framework, the events we organize bring together sustainability professionals from different fields. From businesses to academia and public institutions, various international experts share their experiences to explore the leadership skills required to achieve the 2030 Agenda. The fact that all tickets sold out in record time reflects the public’s interest. In just two years, our events have become an integral part of Barcelona’s sustainability agenda and are attracting an increasing number of leaders who want to drive the transition toward a more sustainable future.

Establishing sustainable practices within an organization requires a leadership culture that aligns with the internal dimensions of the sustainable transition. Hospital Sant Pau in Barcelona is an excellent example of an organization that understands the importance of sustainable leadership. “Hospital Sant Pau is proud to announce the launch of the “Sustainability Ambassadors” training program, an innovative initiative that seeks to lead and promote sustainable development in our community. With this project, we reaffirm our commitment to mitigating environmental and social impacts while increasing the value of the services we provide to society every day,” the hospital emphasizes in its statement.
We feel very proud to be the ones who are designing and delivering this tailor-made training for Sant Pau Hospital. The initial phase of the program began in May 2024 with a conference and training for the hospital’s board of directors. Subsequently, 60 collaborators from various areas—doctors, nurses, logistics staff, and other key departments—joined this transformative experience, which is scheduled to conclude in June of this year.

The main objective of the program is to train the organization’s various teams on the most relevant topics related to sustainability and sustainable lifestyles. This training program provides knowledge, perspectives, and tools related to sustainability leadership. To this end, the program combines theoretical classes with active participation, enabling participants to apply and implement the knowledge they acquire in their daily professional and personal practice. As Sant Pau Hospital emphasizes, “Each of our collaborators thus becomes an agent of change, promoting sustainable practices that will benefit both the organization and society at large.”
Another important focus of Vati Iberia’s activity is the verification of ESG reports. Through Verify Agency, our local team of auditors is ready to meet the growing market demand driven by the European regulatory framework. As sustainability reporting moves from a voluntary exercise to a legal requirement, leading companies are leapfrogging their competitors to position themselves in the upcoming market. Vati Iberia accompanies them throughout the journey.

Our local team in Barcelona is growing rapidly, and we’re proud to have our first Certified Impact Auditors. To meet the growing demand for sustainability audits and support companies in their transition, we’re expanding our network of collaborators. Ready to join us and drive transparency and sustainability?
We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our team of experts!
